An interview with Iliya Dimitrov

Iliya Dimitrov is a young Bulgarian footballer playing as a Centre Forward for PFC CSKA-Sofia U15 (as of season 2021/2022). Read the interview below and learn more about him.




1. Tell us about yourself? Since when did you play football?


My name is Iliya Dimitrov, I’m born in the city of Lovech, Bulgaria. I started training football at the age of 5 in my hometown. Since a little kid I have had a passion for football and it remains to this day.


2. What does football mean to you?


For me football is way of life, love and passion which I can’t live without.



3. What are your strengths that make you a good footballer?


Discipline, confidence and character.



4. How do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years from now?


I see myself as a successful footballer and personality.



5. What is the biggest challenge for the young footballers in Bulgaria?


The biggest challenge for the young footballers in Bulgaria is that they are not given enough chance in the men’s football.



6. Is there a coach or footballer that you admire?


The footballer I admire is Karim Benzema.



7. Do you have any hobbies or passions outside of sport?


No, I don’t have any other passions.



8. What does your typical day look like?


My typical day consists of going to school and training.
